Emerging Technology
The coronavirus pandemic proved the power of technology for good, and the Diocese plans to build on this new reality, where real connections happen virtually as well as in person. Methods used to effectively communicate messages, leading all to salvation, is rapidly changing. If we wish to lead others to the Kingdom of God, we must be dynamically present in the places where people communicate. Help the Diocese to more effectively and efficiently spread the Good News throughout our communities.
Improving Technology and Communication Strategies
"It is right to rejoice in these advances and to be excited by the immense possibilities which they continue to open up before us, for science and technology are wonderful products of a God-given human creativity."
Pope Francis, Laudato Si
Necessary technology upgrades are needed to:
OUR GOAL: $3,500,000
Having technologically advanced spaces — in the pastoral center in Green Bay and online — will allow Bishop Ricken and diocesan staff to connect more efficiently with parish leaders and parishioners in remote areas of the Diocese. The one by One campaign will create three smart conference rooms as well as develop additional areas with livestreaming and podcasting capabilities. Existing digital outreach, such as the diocesan website, will be enhanced, to minister to those who look to the internet for information about the Church, to enrich their faith and to find opportunities to discover Christ in real life.
The one by One campaign will also create a fund to ensure the Diocese remains current on the technology front. Stable platforms, appropriate bandwidth and fiber-optic cable offer stability in today’s technologically advanced world, and the ability to manage data and content is equally essential. Not only must the electronic infrastructure of the Diocese be kept up to date with the latest hardware and software going forward, but it must also remain secure from the ransomware attacks that have paralyzed industries across the United States.
Questions about what your parish will receive
